Holiday Card Project 2012

It's back!  With the goal of bringing a little cheer to patients in the hospital during the holiday season, the deviantART Holiday Card Project connects deviants from around the world and applies their tremendous artistic abilities in designing and creating uplifting holiday cards.
In past years, the Project has received more than 5,000 cards sent in by more than 1,000 deviants from 50 different countries/political regions. Cards were then divvied up and distributed in-person by deviantART members to local Los Angeles, CA hospitals, with additional cards given to various hospitals in the U.S. and abroad for hospital staff members to hand out to patients.
The idea behind the Holiday Card Project is simple: do something nice for others. However, if you're looking for even more incentive, every deviant who submits a card will be given a free one-month Premium Membership to deviant

I Apologize
I don't have to tell you I haven't been on dA for quite some time. I almost never check in anymore, and God do I feel guilty. It's part of why, when I do stop by, I don't respond. Guilt. Embarrassment. Humiliation.
In short, it's an admission I have failed.
I see the old friends I made here are still writing, and against all odds, some of them are still leaving me notes and comments. I wonder what I can say to apologize for ignoring them and deserting my craft. The answer is: nothing. You and dA gave me a boost over 12 years ago to finish my first novel, Fellowship of Psys, and inspired me to start several more. How do I admit that somewhere over the last 4 years I lost that loving' feelin'? That I failed the people who gave me that much needed shove way back when?
I know where it started: when I switched back to my old job as Communications Director at an ad agency. The work load was horrendous, and writing for "fun" after 12-hour days began to feel more like work than a passion. Then

Aija the Moon Elf - ELEVEN
It was late at night.
The Mistress was deep asleep for the first time, since she had returned.
On the nights before she had woken up often, suddenly, breathing heavily and with this also waking and startling Aija, who had never witnessed her Mistress like this.
In those moments she would simply pull the Moon Elf in close, cradling Aija's head on her chest.
Aija could hear her Mistress's heart beating fast and would try to... just be there, be warm and putting her Mistress at ease, gently caressing her, while trying to calm her own fear filled heart.
On the third night had been even worse.
Aija had found herself alone in the big canopy bed, the sheets beside her still warm.
She had quietly gotten up, looking around her. The smell of the sweet incense still heavy in the air. As well as a hint of her Mistress's scent, but dampened under the sweetness. Still she could make out a bitter tasting hint of fear, which the incense wasn't able to hide from her fine senses.
She had ti

Aija the Moon Elf - TEN
It was around noon. Aija lay in the twilight of her windowless bedroom, only some soft daylight shining through the curtains in front of the doorway to the garden.
She hadn't been able to fall asleep until the very early morning, as the night had been filled with lightning, thunder and heavy rain.
Thunderstorms had always frightened Aija, but in the desperate emotional state she was in, after all this seemingly endless time of loneliness, fear and thoughts of despair, she had been reduced to a nervous little bundle, curled up under two blankets. Not even her moon flower book had been able to calm her that night, as she lay shivering and sobbing with every boom of thunder, that rolled over the mansion.
Now she lay in a deep slumber, which her exhausted mind and body had finally granted her.
She did not hear the unlocking and opening of the door. Only opened her hurting eyes a little, when the door closed with a loud noise.
Aija wanted to jump out of bed and run to the door,
